At Lovie Quarry & Concrete Products, sustainability is built into the way we work. From how we power our sites to how we transport materials, we’re committed to continually reducing our environmental impact and operating responsibly across all parts of the business.

We are also one of the first quarrying companies in the UK to achieve Carbon Neutrality – clear, independently verified recognition of the steps we’ve taken to reduce emissions and balance the environmental footprint of our products.

Our carbon neutral certification recognises:

  • Measured and verified emissions across quarrying, production and transport
  • Significant investment in reduction measures
  • Responsible, high-quality carbon offsetting
  • Ongoing annual audits

It’s an important milestone, but more importantly, it reflects how we approach our work every day: making practical changes that reduce our impact while still delivering reliable materials for construction across the North East of Scotland.

Recycling & Resource Efficiency

We actively reduce waste across our quarries and production sites by recycling and reusing materials whenever possible. By keeping resources in circulation longer, we minimise environmental impact and support more responsible use of natural materials.

This includes:

  • Reprocessing offcuts and unused concrete
  • Efficient batching to minimise waste
  • Recycling materials within our precast operations

Our commitment to sustainability

  • Wind energy
    Lovie own and operate 4 turbines, generating clean power and contributing to the local grid.
  • Biomass heating
    Multiple facilities use biomass systems fuelled by renewable material – including timber from our own land – reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
  • LED efficiency
    Modern, low-energy LED lighting are used across the business to improve efficiency and reduce emissions.

Tree Planting & Habitat Support

Lovie have always been avid supporters of tree planting and woodland creation and now boasts over 2 million trees. An additional 80,000 trees have been recently planted to support biodiversity, carbon absorption and local woodland habitat creation.

This long-term commitment helps restore natural areas, protect local ecosystems and contribute to a healthier landscape across Aberdeenshire.

Efficient Fleet & Local Supply

By sourcing and manufacturing products locally, we keep haulage miles to a minimum. Our modern fleet is continually upgraded to the latest emissions standards, helping reduce fuel usage and improve efficiency.

This includes:

  • Up-to-date Euro-standard plant and vehicles
  • Mixed-load deliveries to reduce multiple supplier trips
  • Strategically located quarries to shorten transport distances for customers
